Max Unwin Msc (MSST) - Sports Therapist
Max is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists having graduated from the University of Lincoln with a masters in Sports Therapy after completing an undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth.
Having taken part in judo for 15+ years as well as being a keen footballer, Max understands the pressures that weekly sport can put on the body and how to alleviate these pains to improve performance.
Furthermore, after writing two research papers on Joint Hypermobility and its effects he is very familiar with the condition and has worked with several hypermobile patients on personalised rehabilitation plans to reduce injury risks to joints.
He believes in treating the whole body with manual techniques within his treatment sessions, followed by effective and targeted exercise prescription to allow patients the reach their goals, whether that be sporting or simply maintaining quality of life!
Alongside his studies Max has undergone courses in sports massage therapy, personal training, exercise referral as well as cupping therapy to enhance his knowledge of injury and rehabilitation and offer as much as possible within his treatments.
Max uses Shockwave Therapy, a shockwave therapy treatment uses a special device to pass short impulses of energy through the skin to your injury, regenerating blood vessels and speeding up the healing process (Ref: Benenden Health). Click on the video below to see Shockwave being used on a successful plantar fasciitis case.
