Hypnotherapy is utilising a state of trance to provide healing. It has been around for millenia in virtually every culture. Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by mental and physical relaxation in which our subconscious is able to communicate with our conscious minds. This state can be induced by oneself (eg self hypnosis, daydreaming) or by a trained professional who can utilise the resultant state to encourage beneficial change to occur. It is the latter that is referred to as Hypnotherapy.

Virtually anyone can be hypnotised, but some are more readily hypnotisable than others. This is dependent upon one’s willingness. That willingness is often linked to not knowing what will happen when in trance. Well, you will remain in complete control, you can respond verbally, you can move under your control, you will be aware and you may thing that nothing has happened – that you are not ‘under’.

Hypnosis can be utilised to treat ailments and disease in conjunction with standard health care. This is referred to as hypno-healing. As well as effecting changes to unwanted behaviours, anxiety and other problems.
